Notting Hill
The London Kensington Forum is an excellent choice of hotel accommodation for visitors wishing to explore London’s Notting Hill.
This fashionable area of London is just a short walk from our central London budget hotel and is probably best known as the location of the film Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
However, Notting Hill is well worth a visit in its own right, from its cafes and restaurants to its market, boutique shops, pubs and bars.
Whatever you’re shopping for, clothes, music, shoes, books, jewellery, watches, handbags or food, there’s something for everyone.
Notting Hill also boasts three good cinemas, all of them a world away from the usual multiplex. The Coronet is in a grand old building. In the Electric Cinema in Portobello Road you can book a two-seater sofa and watch the film with a bottle of wine. And the famous Gate Cinema has big comfy seats.
Unmissable on your visit to Notting Hill is the world-famous Portobello Market. This mile long street market is open every day except Sundays and sells a wide variety of different items on different days. By far the most popular day is Saturday when the renowned antiques market takes over. But be warned, it draws the crowds and the street is packed with people shopping or just looking. There are plenty of stalls, cafes, pubs and bars along the way to stop for a rest and something to eat and drink.
The area is also home to the famous Notting Hill Carnival. Every year, on the last Sunday and Monday in August, a million people stream into the streets of Notting Hill for the largest carnival in Europe.
